What did we cover in this episode?

If you’re interested in the role AI has to play in HR, then this episode is for you. In it, Perry and Dr. Chamorro-Premuzic discuss the implications of AI on talent management, leadership and how it’s shaping the future of work.

They also discuss how AI can play a role in advancing meritocracy in organisations, while also improving diversity and inclusion. Then, they also delve into the potential dark side of AI, such as its capacity to distract and consume people's time.

The top three takeaways from this episode

Insight #1: AI can enhance organisational practices and humanise work

The future of organisational practices lies in the integration of AI and human capabilities. Dr.  Chamorro-Premuzic believes the integration of AI with human abilities can lead to a more science-driven approach to organisational practices, particularly in talent and leadership.

"I'm very focused on talent and leadership. But I think over the past five, six years, the specific niche that has really kept me up at night is the human AI interface. How organisations can help rehumanise work," he explained.

Insight #2: AI can help advance diversity and inclusion

In the field of talent acquisition, AI could start playing a significant role in promoting diversity and inclusion. Dr. Chamorro-Premuzic explains how advanced algorithms can help expose existing biases, providing an opportunity to correct and improve systems of hiring.

"I think that AI can be a fundamental tool to advance meritocracy in organisations and to actually improve diversity and inclusion," Dr. Chamorro-Premuzic stated.

Insight #3: AI can enhance productivity while maintaining the “human factor”

While discussing the future of work, Dr. Chamorro-Premuzic emphasised the role of AI in enhancing productivity. The key lies in calibrating expertise and turning insights into action.

"Imagine that we are both managers and we have our employees in a virtual meeting. Real-time emotional sensing AI can tell us if our team members are bored, engaged, if they want to speak or if we have been speaking for too long," explains Dr. Chamorro-Premuzic.
