Personio is seeking a dynamic Mid to Senior Employment Counsel for Germany, someone ambitious and genuine, who works best in the midst of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. As the Employment Counsel, you will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to the company’s operations in Germany and DACH region, ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and best practices and providing valuable legal and compliance solutions to our business. You will also support the Senior Lead Employment Counsel on employment topics within the EMEA region and US as might be required.
You will collaborate closely and report into our Senior Lead Employment Counsel.
Role Responsibilities: What you'll do
Provide practical and commercial risk based employment advice to our People team and business leaders on a full range of mainly German employment-related issues from the entire life cycle of an employee, employment compliance and litigation.
Pro-actively identify ways to optimize and support to implement processes for scalability and efficiency and input into employment strategy and roadmap for Personio to minimise risk and align with Personio’s vision and values.
Keep up-to-date on changes in employment legislation in Germany and DACH and proactively advise our stakeholders on their implications for Personio
Support our Senior Lead Employment Counsel or stakeholders on the company’s wide/larger employment initiatives or cases, including regulatory projects like Pay Transparency Directive, compliance reporting or similar
Manage the relationship and budget with external lawyers on employment matters to deliver cost-effective solutions
Lead and support Personio’s international expansion efforts by conducting due diligence on employment-related legal requirements in Germany and beyond or M&A transactions
Role Requirements: What you need to succeed
Qualified lawyer in Germany with 6+ years’ relevant employment law experience in house or at a top law firm
Strong level knowledge of employment laws and litigation processes in Germany
Fluency in German and English with ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced hypergrowth environment with minimal supervision, but also to use good judgment and call out issues when needed
Flexibility and team-player willing to learn and support on international employment matters and projects
Ability to juggle multiple matters at once with a diverse workload and competing stakeholder demands
Prior experience in the tech industry and/or with global employment matters is preferred
